As the founder of Stepping Stone Construction, I’ve hammered nails and sawed planks from the sun-kissed beaches of Hampton to the historic streets of Exeter. My journey wasn’t paved with blueprints but with the kind of grit you can only find in the heart of New England.

A Brief History of Our Time in New England

I remember my early days, tool belt strapped on, ready to tackle anything from a stubborn drywall to a bespoke gazebo. My mentor, Kevin, always said, “The best tools are your hands and a hearty laugh.” He wasn’t wrong. We didn’t just build structures; we built memories, one joist at a time.

Our “tailgate warranty” was our handshake – a promise that we stand behind every nail driven and every wallpaper smoothed. It’s a tradition I carry on to this day. When you call Stepping Stone, you’re not just getting a handyman; you’re getting a piece of that legacy.

The “tailgate warranty” was humorous but if a customer called we would be sure to be found the next morning dropping the tailgate and loading up the old F150 stepside at Exeter Lumber, in Exeter, NH. A family owned gem which has stood and still stands as a cornerstone of the community since 1958! Hats off!

Well Steeped… In History

We spent our early years studying the architecture of historic buildings surrounding the campus of the long historied and prestigious Phillips Exeter Academy. Settled along the riverbanks in the early 17th century; many of those relics are still standing due to the great pride the original builders took in crafting their forever homes.

We’ve weathered storms and basked in the golden New England summers, always ready to bring your vision to life. Whether it’s a cozy sunporch for those brisk autumn mornings or a deck fit for family barbecues, we’re here to make it happen.

And yes, while the tunes of the Monkees and G. Love echo in the background, it’s your dreams we’re singing along to. So, let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work. After all, in New England, the air is fresher, and the homes are heartier – You don’t have to worry if your house is beat up and broken down – especially when Stepping Stone is on the job.
